Roman copper alloy buckle
Buckle, cast in a flat one-piece mould; the back is flat. The hoop is ovoid with the end curved back in the form of scrolls to either side of the tongue. There is a trapeziform extension behind the hoop, with a rectilinear key-hole shaped piercing, the narrow part of which originally accomodated the back end of the tongue, which was secured round the bar that closes the piercing on a line with the hoop.
