Modern glass bead
"Short cylindrical bead of clear, but very dense wine-coloured glass : wire-wound. This is perhaps, later than 1 (64.357/3), for, though the use of wine-coloured glass for vessels is common enough in the 1st century AD I have a feeling that the short cylindrical shape is not characteristic of Iron Age or early Roman beads. I would guess this specimen to be late Roman or pagan-Saxon, ie AD 300-700." Dr D.B. Harden
