Letter to accompany illluminated address awarded to Kate Williams Evans on May 16th 1912 by the Women's Social and Political Union following her imprisonment at Holloway between March 5th - April 29th 1912. The address was originally accompanied by a prison brooch
Kate Williams Evans, born in Montgomeryshire in 1866, was sentenced to 2 months hard labour for maliciousl damage, having smashed a window in a government building. She served 54 days in Holloway Prison, during which she went on hunger strike.
