Jug, earthenware, standing on a round squared-off foot-rim, bulbous body composed of six convex panels separated by vertical incised lines, cylindrical neck flaring slightly to the mouth, the lip-rim lobed, wide slightly elongated beak spout, high loop handle with raised foliate moulded thumb-spur and foliate moulding to the lower terminal, a band of moulded anthemions to the shoulder, lip-rim and spout, the body beneath the spout and handle moulded with embossed scrolling foliage; finely painted with to the body and neck several sprays of polychrome flowers, the inscription "J M J / 1829" painted in gilt to the front of the body below the spout, gilt bands to the foot-rim, shoulder and exterior and interior lip-rim, gilt markings to the foliate moulding below the spout, gilt foliate markings to the handle.
