South Wales Type axe, looped, with projecting cornice at the mouth of the socket and three parallel ribs on each face. Finished with no casting flashes or runner stubs.

Notes: Found during quarrying for rond-metal on the steep slopes which form the eastern side of the Ebbw Valley, about 1500 yds. NW of St. Andrews Church, Beaufort, Mon., under the W of CWM CARNO on O.S 6 in. (1905 Ed.)Mon. XI NW. Part of a larger hoard including a palstave and further socketed axes which remain in private hands.
