Llangynog slate quarries, report
Short report - similar to a feasibility study - assessing the suitability of Llangynog Quarry (an underground slate mine) for further financial investment. The report was written by Mr Robert Hughes, manager of Aberllefenni Quarry. Mr Robert Hughes was a manager at Aberllefenni between 1853 and 1873 (possibly for longer - known to be retired by 1881). The report contains text and diagrams, and provides information about the slate vein, the opening of the veins, and the proximity to the railway (West Shropshire Mineral Railway). It is believed that the report was written during the 1860/70s. Llangynog Quarry is located approximately 8 miles from Llanfyllin, and 18 miles from Oswestry.
