Cambrian Colliery, photograph
Robert M., Jones (Newport College of Art)
Photograph captioned 'Cambrian Colliery, Clydach Vale, Rhondda. One of the tragic collieries of the Rhondda where there was an explosion which killed 31 coal miners in 1965. The surface buildings were partly demolished in 1969. Here and there are the shells of buildings and parts of their foundations. These ruins are seen in the lee of Mynydd Bwllfa at the very end of the little valley of the Clydach stream. Perhaps the very word valley seems out of place in this context.' Mounted on card. Made for the exhibition RECORDING WALES 3 in 1970/1971.
