Sampler
LINEN, embroidered with coloured wools in cross stitch. At the top are two horizontal rows of ornament made up by repetition of the letter I. Below, in seven horizontal rows are the letters of the alphabet in capitals and small letters, each letter being in duplicate; numerals to 20; the alphabet in Italic capitals. Then follows an inscription. At the bottom is the maker’s name and date. The rows and inscriptions are separated by narrow, straight and zig-zag stripes. There is a narrow stripe border.
