Butetown, negative
Exterior view of The Casablanca Club, Moun Stuart Square, Butetown. Built in 1855 as the Bethel Baptist Church. A new organ was installed in 1924 dedicated to the memory of Rev. Thomas Davies who had conducted a 44 year ministry at the church. When the lease expired in the 1950s the 'Bethel' congregation moved to the old Welsh Congregational Church premises at Pomeroy Street and the Mountstuart Square building was converted to a nightclub as seen here. After many years of dereliction the building was damaged by fire and subsequently demolished in 1996.
