Jug, coffee, and cover
Jug, earthenware, octagonal inset base, octagonal pear-shaped body, raised beak spout with foliate moulding to its base, a partition with perforated holes in it across the inside of the spout, squared-shouldered wish-bone handle with three-lobed lower terminal, octagonal domed cover, extending out into an elongated lobe to cover the spout, to the other side an indentation to allow the cover to fit around the handle, a flower head finial to the top of the cover; transfer-printed in flow blue with to the sides of the body the 'Whampoa' pattern, a chinoiserie-style scene showing in the foreground a number of elaborate pagodas linked by bridges and fences with a spreading willow-like tree hanging over them, in the background further pagodas on islands in an expanse of water, border to the interior and exterior lip-rim and spout of flower heads, foliage and scrolls on a scale blue ground, the same border to the rim of the cover, a scale blue border to the handle.
