Notes in English in response to the National Museum's questionnaire of 1937 on Welsh folk culture by Mrs Winifred Margaret Coombe Tennant (1 November 1874 - 31 August 1956) who was a Suffragist, Liberal politician, philanthropist and a supporter of Welsh cultural traditions and known under the bardic name of 'Mam o'r Nedd'. The information given by her covers the areas of Neath and Swansea. The respondent gives information on the contents of a local gentleman's house in Ynysygerwen, Neath and other domestic information. She also gives information about fighting services, transport, folklore and customs, crafts, traditional medicine and music.
Questionnaire on Welsh Folk Culture, 1937 Prepared by the Department of Folk Culture, National Museum of Wales, and published in 1937. The questionnaires were sent to parishes, schools and individuals as a way of collecting information about all aspects of Welsh folk culture. The questionnaire was divided into the following subject areas: domestic life, corporate life, cultural life, crafts and industries. The museum was keen to engage with the people of Wales and the questionnaire respondents to collect objects and stories as a basis for establishing the Welsh Folk Museum in 1948.
