Bronze Age bronze strap
The strap is of sheet construction with sides neatly finished by turning over the sheet edges to create a tight rounded border. The sides converge slightly, being narrowest near to the disc. The top edge is straight, though with a small corner fragment missing. The top of the strap shows a line of compression and slight bending at right angles to the sides, suggesting it was secured to another object. A single central rivet hole adjacent to the flat top edge confirms it was attached by rivet. The opposite end of the strap has an irregular break and appears not to be hidden beneath the disc on the X-ray. The X-ray shows a distinctive structure of four near vertical lines running along the length of the strap, possibly indicative of hammering and working technique.
