Bishop Walter Stapleton of Exeter (1308-1426; founder) in prayer and holding his staff. To either side, dext. two keys, for St Peter; sin. a sword, for St Paul. (These arms are in allusion to those of the see of Exeter). Above, within a pillared niche, the Blessed Virign supports her Child. In base, a shield: two bands nebuly, (less common arms of ) STAPLETON. Outer border carved.
