Prosthetic leg
Below-the-knee prosthetic leg consisting of skin-coloured metal leg within a leather-encased foot. The metal leg is attached to a leather corset with metal braces and a leather strap; the corset can be tightened using a leather strap and lacing (missing). The artificial leg would have been attached to the body using a leather belt (not included).
This was a standard limb for below-the-knee in this era; two-piece shin to allow alignment to be held, a foot which articulates with a toe rubber. The suspension could have been by tightening the corset over the thigh and the leather strap at the top would have been linked to a waist belt so there would have still been dependency on waist belts because the shape of the limb would have been conical.
