Jug, earthenware, standing on a rounded slightly spreading foot-rim, bulbous body, cylindrical neck, lobed lip-rim, plain beak spout the underside of which is moulded with a raised lozenge pattern with a raised moulded foliate motif to the body below the spout, handle in the form of a severed tree trunk with two branches which form the upper terminals, from the upper terminals moulded sprays of leaves extend across the exterior sides of the jug framing to one side of the body a moulded head and shoulders relief of a standing male figure in Victorian costume with the inscription "SIR ROBERT PEEL" impressed on a raised pad of clay below, and to the other side of the body a moulded head and shoulders relief of a seated male figure in Victorian costume with the inscription "R. COBDEN ESQ MP." impressed on a raised pad of clay below; the exterior sides of the jug and the handle covered with a beigy-brown glaze, the interior left a creamy-white and glazed.
