Roman copper alloy T shaped brooch
A cylindrical crossbar, with vertical ribbing at the front outer edges, houses the pivot bar of the hinged pin. Above, the cast chain loop is separated from the head of the brooch by a curved pedestal, once enamelled. The flat bow is broad at the top and is decorated by two rectangular strips of enamel. Below are two moulded lobs at a slight diagonal to each other. Similar mouldings occur inverted halfway down the bow and again on the elaborately moulded foot, to which the bow tapers.
