Plate, soft-paste porcelain, standing on a tapering foot-rim, cushion-moulded sides and spreading rim, a scalloped edge to the well; painted in red, blue, green, yellow and gilt with a Japanese-style decoration, to the centre of the well a design showing two exotic long-tailed pheasant-like birds perched or hovering among spreading oriental flowers and foliage, two sheaves of bamboo lie beneath one of the birds, small sprigs of flowers to the rim with to the outer rim a border of alternating panels of delicate red foliage and red and gilt lattice-work.
