Hillman Avenger cars being driven aboard M.V. TOYOTA MARU via a specially installed ramp. They were then lowered into the hold via built in cargo lifts. Hillman Avengers would have been re-badged as "Plymouth Crickets" for the American market. Astern of TOYOTA MARU is M.V. ARCTIC TROLL loading cars by crane.
There were nineteen vessels with the name TOYOTA MARU, each of 20,000 plus gross tons and all built by Kawasaki in Japan.
