Late Bronze Age bronze belt/strap hook
A hollow casting closed at one end, to the middle of which is cast, in one piece, a hook. Near the open end are two rivets piercing both faces, evidently to hold a strap or similar fitting in place. One face of the object is convex and plain, the other is flat with raised rounded sides. The latter has over its whole face a chequer pattern of finely incised lines, continued in some places over the top edge, and carried out after the rivets had been inserted. A hole near the top of the flat face below the hook is probably accidental.
