Dillwyn & Co., Cambrian Pottery (1811 - 1817 and 1824 - 1850)
Plate, of creamy, blue tinged earthenware, standing on a narrow foot rim, rounded sides with convex banding, then flaring to form rim; the rim scalloped, forming a waved effect; transfer printed in green with the 'Ne Plus Ultra' pattern; in the centre a woman seated on a bench, holding a lyre, surrounded by scrolled rococo style flowers and foliage and with a vista of a sailing ship on an expanse of water in front of three mountain peaks; the rim printed in green with female figures with baskets of flowers seated in front of a lake and mountain background, interspersed with scrolling foliage and floral motifs issuing from a looping, scrolled border with a filigree, lace effect border to the outer rim.
