Early Bronze Age pottery miniature vessel
Bipartite cup in slightly sandy fabric tempered with crushed burnt bone and sparse grog inclusions. It is of bipartite form with a shallow internal bevel decrated with an incised line and a row of oblique slashes - all are inlaid with red ochre and crushed bone. The neck is decorated with an incised zigzag bordered top and bottom by pairs of incised lines. Beneath the shoulder is an irregular sequence of incised filled lozenges infilled with red ocher and burnt bone. The base is decorated with a fait nine-suqre lattice pattern with four filled triangle. The entire pot has been burnt and/or misfired and the surface is pink/orange. A spalled section indicates that the external surface was intened to be dark brown or black in colour contrasting dramatically with the red and white infilled design.
