Bedgown
Short-sleeved bedgown. Raised-nap woollen fabric, black with pattern of sets of two narrow red stripes (thin ones made of two [and thicker ones made of four] red warps). Black silk fabric on turned-back sleeve cuffs. Bodice has cream tabby woven cotton lining. Cream cotton twill waistband. Skirt has machine-stitched single turn-back at hem. Skirt is constructed from four main pieces of fabric but also has two wedge shaped inserts, one on either side, which are each made up of two small pieces of fabric. At waist, a band of different type of wool was used: the fabric is more felted, the stripes are uniform and are more pinkish in colour. Two buttons at CB waist have become lost (stitching remains). All stitching done by hand with use of different threads, the main ones of which are made of flax.
