Teapot and cover
Teapot, hybrid-paste porcelain, irregular octagonal shape, slightly spreading foot-rim, straight sides sloping inwards at the lower body and at the shoulder, raised straight-sided neck, curving eight-sided spout, square-shouldered angular handle with slightly raised thumb-spur, domed cover in an irregular octagonal shape, to the centre of the cover a finial in the form of a swan, a pierced steam hole to one side of the cover; painted in polychrome enamels with to the exterior sides of the teapot conventional roses surrounded by scattered floral sprigs, border to the shoulder of a dotted purple ribbon entwined with floral sprigs, red scrolls and yellow and red floral motifs, the same border repeated around the sides of the cover, narrow red bands around the top and bottom of the exterior neck and around the rim of the cover, puce foliate and dot motifs to the spout and handle, touches of gilt can be seen here and there on the teapot and cover, especially on the finial.
