Spill vase
Spill-vase, pearlware, standing on a spreading stepped foot-rim, beaker-shaped body with cylindrical sides flaring out to a spreading mouth; transfer-printed in black with to one side of the exterior body a head and shoulders portrait of a female figure wearing low-cut dress, elaborate necklace and floral headress, below this portrait is printed the inscription "THE LATE AND MUCH LAMENTED / Princess Charlotte of Saxe Cobourg / Who departed this life Nov. 6th 1817", to the other side of the exterior body a head and shoulders portrait of a male figure clad in military uniform with a sash and several medals, below this portrait is printed the inscription "DUKE of WELLINGTON", black bands around the foot-rim, lower body and lip-rim. A narrow crack to one side of the lip-rim.
