Toby jug
Toby jug, pearlware with a blue tinge to the glaze, standing on an octagonal base, the jug modelled in the form of a corpulent seated figure with cocked hat forming the mouth of the jug, long coat, cravat, vest, knee-breeches and ribbon-tied shoes, decorated with washes of blue, manganese and yellow glazes, the figure holds a brown painted beer jug on one knee, a long-stemmed tobacco pipe rests to one side, to the rear of the jug a plain loop handle with raised thumb-spur.
