Iron Age / Roman iron barb sprung lock
Part of the looped arm of a barb-sprung lock of Mannings type 2 (Manning 1985, p95-96). The arm of the padlock bolt is also present, passing through a loop. This type of padlock has been found at several Roman sites but is known to have been in use from the Late Iron Age. The remainder of the lock was found separately (SF 6831).
