Welsh not
This Welsh Not dates to 1852, and was used at Pontgarreg School, Llangrannog, west Wales.
In some schools it was used to stop children speaking Welsh. Pupils caught speaking Welsh had to wear it around their neck. The pupil wearing it at the end of the day was punished. Some historians think that the use of the Welsh Not has been exaggerated.
