Tie-on waist pocket from Dyffryn Crawnon, late 19th century. The front of this pocket is made of four pieces of robust blue ribbed cotton or cotton mix and the back of two pieces of the same cloth. A band at the top made of the same cloth serves as an attachment for the tapes. The lower front and back are lined with unribbed cotton, the same as the patch on the top band and lower front left. There is extensive repair and wear. It is possible that it is machine sewn, with hand stitching in the repairs. This pocket belongs to a group of five pockets from the same donor (59.285.6-9 & 59.245.30). They have several features in common, such as construction methods and some materials, signs of heavy wear and extensive repair often using the same methods.
