Early Medieval pottery vessel
Phocean red slipware. Possibly one of a number of sherds from the same dish, (Hayes form 3E) West Turkey. (+ see pub + A1).
Base sherd with abraded stamp (unrecognizable). Edges with rodent toothmarks, abraded. Max S. 2 cm. 1989 C (64).
Fabric A1: Phocean Red Slipware. Soft, wheel-thrown, pink with red slip on both surfaces. Characteristic horizontal very fine grooves on exterior from burnishing. Inclusions abundant tiny yellow limestone fragments.
