Hansen, Leslie W.

Port bow view of M.V. TREMORVAH entering Cardiff Docks.

One of Britain's best-known tramping firms was the Hain Steamship Co. Ltd. which had its origins in the purchase by Edward Hain of St Ives, Cornwall, in 1878, of the steamer Trewidden. Taken over by P. & O. in 1917, the firm continued to be run as a largely independent entity until the early 1970s. The 5,605 gross ton Tremorvah was built at Port Glasgow in 1954, and the distinctive ‘H’ funnel marking of the firm can be discerned in this View taken c. 1959, Sold to Greek owners in 1968, this handsome motor vessel was broken up at Hong Kong in 1975.
