Inscribed enamelled patch box with hinged lid. Mirror inside lid.
Small decorative patch boxes were produced from the mid 1700s until the early 1800s. They were designed to hold paper cut-outs, or patches, which women wore to disguise smallpox scars or as imitation beauty spots.
