¾ Port bow view of M.V. DALHANNA at Cardiff Docks.

DALHANNA. Ore carrier built 1958 by Lithgows, Port Glasgow (4-cylinder 2SCSA Doxford type oil engine built by David Rowan & Co Ltd., Glasgow), for Northern Merchantile & Investments Corporation Ltd., Newcastle, on long-term charter to BISCO, managed by Campbell’s (Newcastle) Ltd. On 23 August 1958, she collided with the trawler STAXTON WYKE in fog near Flamborough Head. The trawler sank with the loss of five of her crew. 1959 – Management assigned to Hunting & Son Ltd., Newcastle-upon-Tyne. 1965 – Owners restyled William Baird Mining Ltd., London. 1973 – Sold to Silver Lake Shipping Co., SA Panama, and renamed SILVER ISLAND. 1981 – Sold to Dalish Shipping Corporation, Monrovia, and renamed AMILIA. She was laid up at Piraeus from October 1981 and broken up at Gadani Beach in 1983.
