RUG-MAKING EXAMPLES
Waistcoat made of rags using black, reds, orange and yellow (cotton and wool) fabrics. Made by Alison Morton for Arts Council Exhibition in 1986.Note in AM notebook: ‘1st March 1986: Made Rag waistcoat for Arts Council Exhibition ‘hooked rag through scrim – lighter weight than Hessian. Turned edges in and bound with seam binding. Pattern of waistcoat all in one piece and joined at shoulders. Fairly heavy for a garment but felt comfortable on.’
