Dillwyn & Co., Cambrian Pottery (1811 - 1817 and 1824 - 1850)
Plate, earthenware, in the form of an ancient Greek patera, incised foot-rim, deeply curving sides, everted rim, incised lines around the exterior and interior rim; the decoration reserved against a black enamel ground so that the red earthenware body is revealed, this then transfer-printed in black with to the centre of the well a standing male figure clad in a tunic leaning on a staff and with a wreath around his head, border to the rim of Greek key motifs and other geometric shapes on a red ground.
