Early Medieval ceramic crucible
Type series of knobs and restored bowls. Crucible lid nearly complete. Fragments of lid found with fragments of at least two crucible bowls in an extensive ashy patch under Bank I (fig 15; Section 4; XII (7); O). All are in a fine grey or buff paste with quartz grits. The lid, which has a sub-rectangular knob, is made separately and luted on.
