Pot-lid, earthenware, circular shape with cylindrical flange and convex top, the flange and underside of the lid partially obscured by the frame; the upperside of the lid decorated with an underglaze polychrome transfer-print of 'The Skaters' (although this title is not recorded on the lid), showing three figures skating on a frozen pond, the female figure in the foreground wears an elaborately ruffled gown and fur-trimmed jacket and carries a fur muff, any border which may enclose the print is obscured by the frame.
