Armchair
Back panel (a replacement) carved R.W.V. and thirteen dates between 1792 and 1835. Shaped upper back rail carved with rosettes divided by a carved acorn. Lower back rail carved with two scrolled serpents. Back uprights (finials replaced by plain splices and capping) carved W.V / H.N. / W.V. / K.N. (probably for William Vaughan, Hugh and Katherine Nanney). Seat rails shaped and bound by iron strengthening bands; iron loops at sides to take carrying poles. Shaped and rounded arms supported at front by prolongation of turned legs. Turned front stretcher, four side and one rear stretcher (plain). Said to have been used to carry Richard Vaughan M.P. (d.1636) of Corsygedol with the House of Commons.
