Medieval ceramic floor tile
Lewis Group 29 plain tiles
Pale grey fabric heavily gritted with small rounded gravel, glazed brown/green; surfaces can be fired buff/pink, and some have a thin white slip applied with a brush. The tiles are 125mm-135mm square and about 20mm thick and there diagonal half-tiles. No decorated tiles have been noted. The St.David's examples have rows of stabs on the undersides, made with a parallel sided tool 8mm wide. The fabric is reminiscent of the gravel-tempered pottery of N.Devon and S.W.Wales, and may be local.
