¾ Starboard bow view of S.S. MERCHANT ROYAL at Cardiff Docks.

S.S. MERCHANT ROYAL (2) (7174gt). Built 1942 as OCEAN TRADER by Todd-Bath Iron Shipbuilding Corp., Portland, Maine (engine by General Machinery Corp., Hamilton , Ohio), for MoWT, managed by Glen Line Ltd., Liverpool. 1947 – Sold to Drake Shipping Co., Liverpool, and renamed MERCHANT ROYAL. 1951 – Sold to Cia Armadora Transoceanica S.A. (Lykiardopoulo), Panama, and renamed OCEANA. 1960 – Transferred to Cia Armadora Sabinal (same owner), Piraeus and renamed OKEANIS. 1966 – Sold to Salinama SA, Panama (Fratelli Cosulich, Trieste) and renamed FIDES. 1968 – Transferred to Marsalina Shipping Co., Famagusta (same owner) and renamed DEFIS. She was broken up at Sakaide, Japan in 1969.
