Lesbians & Gay Men Support the Miners, badge
Badge produced by Lesbians and Gay Men Support the Miners (LGSM) in 1985, and worn by Roddy Barnes (1942-1992). Roddy was a member of LGSM, and was part of the group that visited south Wales and whose story is told in the 2014 film Pride. LGSM was founded by Mark Aston and Mike Jackson to support striking miners during the 1984-85 miners’ strike. The London branch twinned with the Neath, Dulais and Swansea Valley Miners’ Support Group, which embraced several collieries from the three valleys.
