Wyon, Leonard Charles (1826-1891
Son of William Wyon.
Chief Engraver at the Royal Mint from 1851.)
John Pinches Ltd (Originally set up as 'Pinches Bros'. By 1850 John Pinches had set up in business on his own in Oxendon Street, London. He was succeeded by his son and grandson (also both called John).
In 1940 the company was registered as John Pinches (Medallists) Ltd.
In 1969 the company was sold to Franklin Mint Inc.)
Same accession no. and hence likely association with Khedive's Star 1882 to Pte D. Glennie, 19th Hussars. These bars inappropriate with dated reverse medal. 19th Hussars at Tel-el-Kebir 1882 and expedition to relieve Gordon in 1885. Perhaps a 'marriage' of medal and bars to claim involvement in the 'Gordon' expedition?
