H.M.S. CULLIN SOUND (7850gt - after conversion). “Moray Firth” class ship (Pennant No. F188) completed 1945 for the Royal Navy by William Gray & Co. Ltd., West Hartlepool, with T.3cyl engine by Central Marine Engine Works, West Hartlepool. 1948 – Sold to Margareta Steam Ship Co Ltd, London, she was converted to a cargo vessel and renamed JAMES CLUNIES (managed by Clunies Shipping Co.). She became stranded on Punta Mogotes, Argentina, on 21st April 1949 while en route from Bahia Blanca to Italy with a cargo of grain. She was subsequently declared a total loss.
