Caption from exhibition "Glynhafod School soupKitchen during the 1921 Coal Strike (Scott James). Wayne Thomas interviewed his neighbour, Mr. Mainwaring, who is in his 70's. 'I remember the coal strikes of 1921 and 1926. My father used to go to the tups to look for coal. There was no money, only what they called the parish rate. I remember as a boy going to the soup kitchens. You had to take your own spoon and cup.'" - Sian Williams
