Teapot and cover
Irminger, Johann Jakob (Irminger was the Dresden court silversmith and was closely involved with the Meissen porcelain manufactory during the first decade of its existence, responsible for overseeing design. He is listed in the manufactory personnel list of 1710, where his work is defined as 'so die Inventiones und neuen Desseins besorget', and he was almost solely responsible for the design of Böttger stoneware and porcelain. Teapot and cover, Böttger brown stoneware, octagonal, standing on a very shallow rim, panelled body, elaborate scroll handle, and strutted bird's head spout terminating in a mask, conical shaped cover with pagoda finial, dark brown glaze, decorated in lacquer colours and gilt with flower sprays separated by green bands, gilt panel decoration to cover, gilding to spout.
