The Maersk Line, established in 1904, was owned by A. P. Moller of Copenhagen; apart from general tramping, the firm also had a regular service from the Far East to Los Angeles and New York. The Emilie Maersk was one of their smaller tramps (2,202 gross tons) and is seen here in the Queen Alexandra Dock, c.1936. S.S. EMILIE MAERSK (2212 gt). Danish steam turbine cargo ship built 1922 by A. P. Møller, Odense Staalskibsvaerft, Odense, for their own Mærsk Line (A. P. Møller, Copenhagen). She went aground while under German control on 14 January 1941, and was wrecked near Borkum.
