Post-Medieval silver gilt dress fastner
Silver gilt dress-hook with a square-shaped back-plate cut from a sheet and cusped around the edge, which is perforated. A separate hook and bar looop have been soldered to the back. Attached to the front of the plate by solder is a hollow silver gilt box with three panels, each decorated with a pair of hollow hemisperical bosses, surrounded by fine filigree and plain rods demarcating panels. There is a cast fleur-de-lys above the pin and the junction with the base, and there are pellets between the bosses. The back of the baseplate is engraved with maker`s marks. Gilding does not extend along the full length to the hook.
