Truncheon
Wooden truncheon. Main part painted black with red, white and gold emblem of the Royal Arms surrounded with motto HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE and the imperial crown. Red and gold "GLAMORGANSHIRE CONSTABULARY" emblem. One end unpainted and turned to form handgrip. With turned butt.
The painting and decorating of a truncheon was more than just ornamentation - by having a royal crown or coat of arms, it showed that the constable was acting with the authority of the Crown
