Late Neolithic flint transverse arrowhead
Transverse arrowhead of petit tranchet type. It is made on grey, unpatinated flint. A trace of cortex survives at the tang. As far as can be determined the cortex is black and water-smoothed. It changes colour to a bright orange for 1.5mm before the internal grey colour of the flint is reached. The ventral surface has scalar retouch running continuously along both lengths. The dorsal surface is thinned over the majority of the surface with retouch along the lengths of both edges. The tranchet edge is unmodified.
