Medieval pottery jar
Avon Area - Heavy sandy (fabric 6) This is similar to fabric 5 described above but denser, and the vessels have thicker walls. The fabric body is grey with light brown or buff/grey surfaces. Among the eighteen vessels recognised over periods 2-4 decoration is less frequently found than in fabric 5: applied strips rarely occur, combed line being the usual decoration, if any. Rims have the tendancy to carry combed line decoration and are everted; others have a slight internal kick at the inner edge.
