Vietnam war peace march, New York City
Written on the back of this work is: “I took this picture in 1965 in NYC when a lot of people were protesting against the Vietnam War by burning their draft cards, Burt Glinn, fellow Magnum member, used to tease me by calling me a 'Commie photographer'. The funny thing about that is Burt's mother and uncle signed him up to the Communist Party when he was seven years old! In fact, when Burt was in the army, he was long overdue for a promotion, and when he inquired about why he was being held back, he was told it was because of his Communist affiliation in 1932. Burt replied, 'I was seven!' He got the promotion.” — Hiroji Kubota
